Gluten Free-Palooza

If you are eating gluten free, or shopping for groceries for someone who eats a gluten free diet, you are in luck. There are bargains to be found everywhere.

Gluten free is the new Atkins. Or the new South Beach. Or maybe with all the hype of new years resolutions, people are paying attention to labels and ingredients. Regardless, I have been finding deals on gluten free groceries all over town.

Here is a sampling of the loot I scored at Big Lots.
These Envirokids cereal bars are individually wrapped for on the go snacks and are a gf version of a rice krispie treat. I keep these in my van for times when we go places and the snacks or party favors are not CJ friendly. Normally, the box is $3.79 or higher, but at Big Lots they were $2.50 instead. These other tasty snacks are also certified gluten free, and are value priced at Big Lots this week. I stocked up and loaded the pantry with cereals, Terra root and sweet potato chips,
and POM tomatoes and marinara sauce in the cardboard box. I love these for sauces and soups, and these cost a fortune in the grocery, but at Big Lots, they were a $1 a cube sized container.

Snyder's pretzels are now available in a gluten free version. These are priced similar to the regular kind, and are crispy, salted and perfect for dipping. These are on sale at Whole Foods for $2.69 a bag. I made some dipped in white chocolate and they were amazing. No one could tell they were gluten free pretzels and at that sale price, I bought enough to share.

You probably would not think about buying gluten free foods at Marshall's or TJ Maxx, but in the last few weeks, I have noticed a ton of GF stuff in the gourmet section. These Nana's cookies were a find, and with 6 UPC codes you can order a free Curious George DVD. These think thincookies and cream bars are delicious too. I found boxes of the anellini pastaby Schar, and when added to soups or stews, this real Italian quality pasta pebbles are perfect!

So when you are out and about, keep your eyes open for hidden finds. You never know when you might just time it right, and find your own, GLUTEN FREE-PALOOZA!
