The Disney Diary- day ONE

While most civilized parents would think flying from Columbus to Orlando with 4 kids under three years old would be painful, THOSE SILLY SLUTSKYS did just that, on a 6:25A.M. flight. YES, we did folks, we woke up at 4:30 A.M., got them all dressed, fed and loaded into the van, tucked our quad stroller into the rear cargo area and we strapped the luggage to the roof- think Clark Grizzwold Family Vacation to Wallyworld!

We flew to Florida with all the kids before most people had breakfast. We are insane.

When we arrived in Orlando it was hot- even at 8 in the morning- but that is Florida in almost June, so we just cranked the air on the rented minivan and cruised on over to our "FLORIDA HOUSE" which is what Natalie called our condo. We got settled in, baby and toddler-proofed the place and went out for lunch. We tried to nap the kids in a new living arrangement which was torture, but had to be done.

The kids got to spend time with Nana and Papa and we met up with Lillian, Sam and the AUNT NAT and Aunt Shell in the indoor jungle jim like-playspace at our complex. The kids were able to spend some energy in the A/C and it was somewhat of controlled chaos- which is to be expected.

We ended our first day with a family dinner at Bahama Breeze. When our group check in with the hostess we have to say, Party of 14...That is 8 adults and 6 high chairs please! Thank GOD it is Orlando and they have a bazillion high chairs! Our dinner was really good and the kids behaved like angels despite the horrific wait time to get our meal. Eli got his own special one on one with Nana and Papa- he loved being the only child at the table. He ate Mahi Mahi with mango salsa, mashed potatoes, broccoli and a slice of Island Key Lime Pie. What a little gentleman. Mommie and Natalie had a beautiful almond crusted tilapia, which Natalie calls Toppy-la la.

At the end of the day we were all exhausted- in a good way. The kids were so excited about the idea of Breakfast with Elmo that they had a hard time falling asleep. Mommie and Daddy crashed out as soon as all the little folks were safe and snug in their new "FLORIDA HOUSE."
