March for Babies- Walk for Babies- RUN for OUR BABIES

As you can see from the link at the right side of the blog, we are proudly walking for the March of Dimes again this year. With pride and gratitude to the fine work of the March of Dimes organization, we have put together our own little team of walkers and fundraisers. If you live close enough to join our team that would be a few hours of quality time for certain. If you want to participate but can be here in person, just sponsor us with a donation, or encourage us in the comments section here. Either way we will be celebrating the triumph of our beautiful 28 weekers and the success of their story.

It gives me great pride to push my kids in the stroller because it was just over two years ago that I sat next to their isolettes wondering if we would ever be able to take them all home and watch them grow & thrive. I wanted to pay it forward then, and now I find ways to help other parents in a similar situation. No one helps preemies more than the March of Dimes. Our peanuts were a hint more than 2 pounds a pop, their combined weight (all three) was less than most full term singletons. Now, I marvel at them everyday and can't really remember how small and fragile they really were- in fact, I look back at the NICU photos and I wonder how the hell I held it together during that part of my life.

Join us in celebrating our family and helping us help the fine folks at the March of Dimes!

Our Green Goddess

Oh how I love everything about the title of this post. One of my favorite 1970's memories is of Green Goddess salad dressing- it was by Seven Seas and it was clearly the dressing of the Seventies. Now fast forward to 2008 and take a look at my new favorite version of Green Goddess. This is Charlotte modeling in Argenida's "new" room. We did an extreme makeover to the guestroom last weekend when Argenida agreed to extend her Aupair visa for another year. YIPPEE... in our excitement we wanted to do something special to recognize how much we LOVE LOVE LOVE having her in our home. Now her room is officially hers- she picked the color and matching bedding. We need a few accessories, a new area rug and some more framed artwork & photos, but all in all it is perfect for all of our Green Goddesses

Our Bachelor (?)

Our dear friend April said it best..."Oy, Mitchell looks like he could be on the show the bachelor!" So I got to thinking....this little kid has grown up. He has always been so dang cute, but now, in looking at these photos I can see objectively that hs is downright handsome. To put it in perspective for me....I went back and looked at the photos I took when I first met Mitchell a few years ago, ok- almost 6 years ago.

That was then:

This is now:

Imagine my shock when I see how far he has come! I am living with THE BACHELOR! This guy irons his own shirts, and dresses like a pimp. P-I-M-P, as in the suburban chick magnet kind...I will let you know when he gets his own reality show.

Chocolate Covered Tripets, ooops, I meant Chocolate covered strawberries!

Either way you state it, they had a blast. What is not to love about celebrating Valentine's day with long stemmed, chocolate dipped, fresh strawberries? Okay, so they ended up being covered in chocolate too, there are worse things. And yes, yes, yes, I know you are not supposed to give an infant chocolate or strawberries for that matter, because of potential allergies, but honestly- how can you say no to a 7 month old mooch? Make that a 7 month old, happy, smiling, persistant mooch.

It was bath night, which meant as soon as they finished devouring the berries, they were plopped into a tub full of suds. Since we turn on the jacuzzi and add some shower gel it creates a virtual Jetson;s style automated whirpool like washing machine for toddlers. There is very little scrubbing involved. They play and we rinse.

Mommie and Daddy put the little ones to bed and enjoyed a quiet evening celebrating what we love about each other- like being home with the silent sound of our house after four teeny people are sleeping. Take that Cupid!

Look out folks...she rolls, she scoots, she is mobile. This baby is in action. Charlotte moves- and fast too I must say. Just watch her go, go, go!

Las Vegas BABY

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...well, unless you have a blog and go there with your wonderful husband and spend two days and nights shopping, dining and seeing friends, right? This quick little trip was all business for Jeff and all tag along pleasure for me....I made it to Neiman's Last Call before I had even been on Nevada soil for an hour. We landed, picked up the car, and headed south on I-15 to Primm, Nevada. 39 miles at 80 miles an hour and I was in heaven. All in a days work my friends.

This time we stayed at http://www.mandalaybay.com/persona/thehotel.aspx The Mandalay Bay resort which was great- certainly not The Venetian where we had our first date, but the room was on the 30th floor with a view of the strip, and it was ours alone for two nights. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so if you are wondering what kind of activities kept us busy you will have to use your imagination.

The www.chinagrillmgt.com/chinaLV/main.cfm?pp=0 China Grill Restaurant did not disappoint us- for those of you who are food focused too, let me just share a few of the delicious items we enjoyed- they are sure to make your mouth water. Our plates were a work of art, filled with creative Asian inspired dishes. Since we had a double date with our good friends we were able to order many items served family style. They included:

Appetizers:
marinated tempura tofu & shitake mushroom potstickers
curried chicken satay with chilled sesame noodles & crushed chili ponzu
spicy beef & scallion dumplings

Salad:
crackling calamari salad with lime miso dressing

Entrees:
pan seared spicy tuna with avocado shashimi and seaweed
sweet soy marinated skirt steak with wok sautéed lo mein noodles & tempura shitake mushrooms
wasabi mashed potatoes
barbecued salmon with chinese mustard and flash fried greens

Drink:
Cosmopolitans and Tsg Tao beers

So....we ate, we drank, we slept, and we did not make it to a single casino gaming event- no black jack no slots, just us...in Vegas! Yippee!

Our little supermodel

I can't keep a secret. I was going to wait until all the images were available, but I just am bursting at the seams. Our Baby Charlotte looks like a supermodel. Sure, she is adorable in real life...but look at what the camera does to her sweet face....my favorite photographer, Jennifer Mullinax snapped them in Kansas City last week, and I have ants in my pants to see the rest of the shoot- if you want to take a quick peek at Jennifers awesome photography, and see Charlie-lana, please click here:
